Our soft play area services

Playground Soft Surfaces

We install impact-absorbing playground surfaces designed to improve safety and durability in children’s play areas. Suitable for family gardens, nurseries, schools and community spaces, our surfaces are built to perform in all weather conditions while providing a safe and comfortable area for play.

Play Area Design & Layout

We design play areas to suit the available space, ensuring good flow, visibility and clearly defined safe zones. Whether creating a compact garden play area or a larger commercial playground, layouts are carefully planned to support safe and enjoyable play.

Ground Preparation & Drainage

Correct ground preparation is essential for a safe and durable play area. We carry out excavation and ground levelling, install solid sub-bases, and incorporate drainage solutions to prevent water pooling. Secure edging and transitions ensure the surface performs correctly and remains safe over time.

Play Equipment Installation

While our main focus is soft play surfacing, we can also install play equipment as part of the project. All equipment is positioned with appropriate safety clearances and integrated seamlessly with the surrounding surface.

Soft play areas for all environmentse

For homeowners, we create safe and practical garden play areas that blend into the garden while giving children a dedicated space to play, explore and enjoy the outdoors.

For commercial projects, we work with schools, nurseries and organisations to deliver professional soft play installations designed for durability, safety and regular use.

Our team understands the additional considerations involved in commercial settings and delivers reliable, long-lasting solutions.

The fact that they were a trusted installer of the manufacturer’s product meant that we felt assured from the outset that we were going to get a good result. And we did. We couldn’t be happier with our new Millboard deck. Thank you, AJT.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Alex and his team did an excellent job on our patio refurbishment. They did what others told us was impossible with decking and it still looks stunning a few years later. The team were really friendly and professional. Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We recently had a Millboard decking project completed by AJT Landscaping, and we couldn’t be happier with the result.

From the outset, Alex Tickner was professional, knowledgeable and helpful, and his team carried out the work to an exceptionally high standard. Their attention to detail and quality of workmanship were outstanding, and the finished deck looks stunning.

The team were hardworking, courteous and a pleasure to have on site. They were always respectful, tidy and clearly took real pride in their work. We would have no hesitation in recommending AJT Landscaping to anyone looking for high-quality landscaping or Millboard decking projects. Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It was a great pleasure to meet Alex and to engage his company to undertake a small patio project at our daughter's new development home. Jack, Max and colleagues did a wonderful job of removing a partially built patio of concrete pavers and laying a far more aesthetically pleasing replacement, finished in sandstone.

Although small in scale compared to many of his projects, Alex always conveyed the sense that this project was as important as any other; fundamental to this are his exemplary communication and interpersonal skills, setting him apart from most of his peers in this industry, in our experience.

We have no hesitation in recommending Alex and his team, who were polite, respectful and helpfully communicative throughout, They have contributed, in no small measure, to a vastly improved and happier outcome, which is greatly appreciated. Many thanks to Alex and his team at AJT Landscaping!

Soft Play Areas FAQs

What is a playground soft surface?

A playground soft surface is an impact-absorbing surface designed to reduce the risk of injury in children’s play areas. It provides a safer alternative to hard surfaces and is commonly used beneath play equipment in gardens, schools and commercial play spaces.

What types of soft play surfaces do you install?

We install a range of soft play surfaces, including rubber-based playground surfaces, artificial grass with safety underlay and selected natural play surfaces where appropriate. The best option depends on usage, safety requirements and the space available.

Can you create a children’s play area in a small garden?

Yes. We design children’s play areas to suit gardens of all sizes. Even compact spaces can be transformed with the right surface, layout and equipment placement.

Is ground preparation included in your soft play installations?

Yes. Proper ground preparation is a critical part of every soft play area. This includes excavation, levelling, installing a solid sub-base and ensuring adequate drainage to keep the surface safe and durable.

Do you install play equipment as part of the project?

Yes. While this service focuses on soft play surfacing, we can also install play equipment as part of the overall children’s play area, ensuring correct spacing and safety clearances.

Are your soft play areas suitable for commercial environments?

Yes. We design and install soft play areas for schools, nurseries and organisations, creating robust surfaces designed to withstand regular use while maintaining safety and performance.

How long does it take to install a soft play area?

Most soft play areas are completed within a few days, depending on the size of the space, the level of ground preparation required and the type of surface being installed.

How do I maintain a playground soft surface?

Maintenance depends on the surface type but generally includes keeping the area clean, removing debris and carrying out occasional checks to ensure the surface remains secure and level.
